Planes, trains and automobiles, now its all in tact. Wi-Fi was first made available to cars, then planes, and now, finally, trains. A popular 45 mile commuter line will have at least 1 car per train with internet service. They decided to take it to the field and test run it, “we realize there will be bugs and glitches, but we felt it was best to get it out there and try it out”. This particular commuter line carries approximately 18,000 passengers daily across 17 stations. (more…)

Looks like we have another battle on the horizon. The battle between Amazon and iTunes that is. The Amazon MP3 service was announced today that they will be going global, though a launch date has not yet been set. To be honest, it’s about time someone has stepped up to the plate to compete against iTunes, it was only a matter of time.
Amazon MP3 catalogue is the only digital music catalogue that offers DRM-free tracks from all 4 major labels, which are significantly cheaper than iTunes. Amazons MP3 catalogue offers roughly around 3.3 million tracks, which obviously is a heavy competitor to iTunes.

For all you photographers out there, I found this to be pretty kickass. Canon has announced the release of the new EOS Rebel XSi with a 12.2MP resolution. I actually planned on ordering a Canon Rebel XTi kit this upcoming week, but now I’m split on a decision. It seems from the prior success of the Canon Rebel XTi it was inevitable for Canon to release a notch up upgrade.
The Canon Rebel XSI SLR camera offers a lot of cool new features the XTi doesnt, some of these features include improved auto-focus sensor, enchanced 14-bit A/D conversion, an advanced Live View function (badass), 3-inch LCD monitor, and a DIGIC III image processor. The new XSi supports more than 60 compatible Canon EF and EF-S lenses as well. (more…)

Ok, to begin with, this may be the freakiest thing I’ve ever seen. Though it seems that the ATR (Osaka based Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute) has developed a “crowd-monitoring” humanoid robot. In ways it recognizes when people are lost and directs them where to go.
So in a series of demonstrations/tests that were conducted, a souped-up version of ATR’s humanoid robot was able to monitor passer byers within a 100 square meter (1,076 sq ft) section of Universal Citywalk Osaka.

Palm has decided to close all of its retail stores in order to fully compete in the market of smartphones.
As RIM, maker of the Blackberry devices, have grown using retail stores, Palm decides to leave the retail store market. They have decided to focus on fewer programs and see what they can do more universally.
Wish the best to Palm. I personally believe its their loss. RIM has been very successful but I think it was because their products are very well advertised.

Charter Communications, a broadband internet company has done something some suscribers will never forgive them for…
Charter accidentially deleted 14,000+ e-mail accounts! There is no way to get your e-mails including your photos, text, files, or music out of your e-mail either. At least Charter is doing something in compensation.
Because nothing can be retrieved and everything is lost, Charter is crediting $50 to everyone who is affected. I personally believe they should go $50 more to make it $100.

Alltel, a US cell phone carrier has annouced 3 new phones that are to be added to their line up.

The first one is the LG Scoop. It is essientially a messaging device made for those text gurus who just cannot stop texting their friends and family. There are preloaded instant messaging programs such as AIM and Yahoo. Also, the full QWERTY keyboard makes the experience so much better.

The second phone is the Blackberry Pearl 8130. It has a 2MP camera and a Shuretype keyboard along with EVDO surfing speeds and expansion through a MicroSD slot.

The last phone is the LG Muse which is marketed as a music centered phone. It has bluetooth stereo for your music and a 2MP camera. There is also XM mobile radio along with GPS capabilities. Not the best looker in my opinion.

Microsoft and Dell have joined in their efforts to fight against AIDS.
How did you do this you ask? Well, Microsoft and Dell have come together to produce red products which represent AIDS awareness.
Example? The Dell laptops. The Dell XPS M1330 and M1530 are both available in red which looks great on the slim gaming laptops. The Dell XPS One and their All-In-One Printer are also offered in red.
 Good job Bill and Michael.

It seems recently the guys over at Crave have come across something quite interesting while at a friendly dinner with some representatives from Asus. Reported they were told in a “very hush manner” that “Asus is helping Apple build a Tablet PC.” Of course we can all count the endless rumors involving anything to do with Apple, though this seems to be more true then just a fairytale, due to the fact that Asus is Apple’s contract manufacturer. Asus is a big player behind the building of the iBook, PowerBook, as well as the MacBook.

Well I’m sure everyone has heard by now, but the release of the Apple TV Take 2 has been announced at MacWorld. The Apple TV “Take 1″ we’ll go ahead and call it, was by no means a success. In reality the Apple TV was one of Apples least successful releases in 2007. Even Steve Jobs admitted in his keynote address that the Apple TV “has failed to meet expectations and truly link online content with the television.” So what does Take 2 offer that Take 1 didn’t?
